On Fox News HQ, Heather Childers held a panel discussion on a new Gallup poll that showed Americans were split on how history will regard President Obama: 38% said he will be remembered as above average or outstanding and 35% thought he would be seen as below average or poor. They also discussed additional findings in the poll that showed many people considered Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton to be among the best modern US presidents.

While Donald Trump and Ben Quayle have been pretty adamant about which side they were taking in this argument, the Fox News panel focused on the positive with Jehmu Greene and Judith Miller saying Bill Clinton was the best modern president and KT McFarland giving props to Ronald Reagan.

Greene thought that more time needed to be given before Americans could give a clearer answer on President Obama‘s place in history. Miller was astounded that despite Clinton’s impeachment and scandals, many people –herself included– considered Clinton to be the best modern US president.

Although I wouldn't normally publish anything Fox had to say that didn't include contempt along with it, at least they got the "balanced" part of fair and balanced this time.

Let's keep in mind that "Americans"--as in the general public--are relatively poor judges of presidential "greats," especially when sufficient time has not passed for an accurate judgment.

Choosing Reagan, a man who suffered from Alzheimers throughout his second term, and likely through a significant portion of his first term, is a prime example of what poor judgment Americans express.

Ron Reagan said his father's confusion during a 1984 debate -- just three years in to what would be an eight year presidency -- prompted his concern.

The only reason Reagan is on the list is because they drag his name out and use it like he's a damn saint. Iran/Contra or him pissing away your SS money anybody? He was a puppet. Thanks for the great working "war on drugs" too.

I'm not going to say Obama is the best we have ever seen but he gets credit in my book for taking this country that had been beat to death by wars and foreclosures and has stopped the freefall we were in and has put the country back on track. If you don't think he has helped then consider the 700,000 job loses a month we had before he took office. Yes things are better. Meanwhile it's been long enough since Reagan was in office so nobody seems to remember how worthless he was.

PS- Bush is and will remain the worst President in US history, no matter how much you hate Obama.

I think if one looks at it objectively, Reagan was the worst president in our nation's history. His voodoo economic policies including outsourcing jobs and deregulation, led to the recent financial disaster.

Why don't we wait till Obama's second term is over before we declare how good his presidency was?

The net rating Positive minus Negative puts Pres Obama on par with Pres Ford

I guess the American people do get it right occasionally.

The people who will be writing the history about our times have not even been born yet. The only sure thing at this point is that his election was historic, and that does not qualify him for being either worst ot best.
