My freshman year at UF - as I entered campus for the first time - I saw a long vertical banner stretching from a third-floor dorm window to the ground. On it was written:

"Claude Kirk for Pharaoh"

I got the impression it wasn't meant as a compliment, but perhaps we could resurrect the notion in a 'good' way for Grayson.

either that or they got fooled like so many others did this past election. The left made fun of sarah Palin's kids. Just for fun do you know what this numbskull named his kids?

Skye, Star, Sage, Storm and Stone - go figure!

No, they made fun of Palin's using the kids ( and her grandkid that was on the way ) for political props. I know, the subtle difference eludes most Palin supporters, as well as Palin herself ( "I don't know why they were booing her" at the hockey rink ).

Grayson is so unpopular in his district that the GOP is carpetbagging candidates to run against him....oh, and making him their "Number 1 target" in 2010. He's so unpopular that he is getting support from THOUSANDS and polling well in his district.....he's so unpopular that he is welcomed on every "liberal" talk show....not bad for a freshman, but yes, I'm sure his constituants are going to "through" him out next year.....keep on keepin on there GOP - you're doin great!

Except that Grayson is wrong.

The federal government has the right to terminate any federal contract at any time for any reason.

Just because people like him and Al Franken are good at badgering people does not mean that they are right.

The federal government has the right to terminate any federal contract at any time for any reason.

Terminating a contract is one thing - writing a federal law that names only one entity which is required to follow said law is another..........

Is Congress pulling a contract or are they (in this case many in the GOP ARE) looking to pass a law punishing ACORN? Nobody is arguing that stripping the funding from an organization is unconstitutional - and it's a moot point as it it was done, but further congressional action against this organization IS. Mr. Grayson was just "reminding" Broun of that fact.

It is not unconstitutional, if the organization has proven ethics problem, or fraudulent action. This organization is completely corrupt, and no-one should be coming to their defense. It's not just the video's that emerged.....investigations on other issues have surfaced before and charges have been made. I can't understand anyone approving of disrespect for others. This little boy needs his mouth washed out with soap, and a good busting.

Yeah, @!$%# those dead people and the audacity of someone to speak for them!

It's a political ploy Einstein, and a macabre one at that. Did you look at that website? Grayson is exploiting their deaths to prosecute his agendas against the opposing party and to get legislation for Democratic health care "reform" crammed through Congress. Let's see how that's going ... Max Baucus has been bought and paid for by the suits in the industry. Curiously absent from that graphic are lobbyists for the People of the United States. Hmmm ... the suits will get richer but ...

Further, the list of the deceased is wide open to exploitation by Grayson's henchmen or random Democratic sympathizers who could easily fabricate names and stories and then enter them into the website. No doubt that's happened already.

        Deplorable.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Grayson is a successful businessman who ran for Congress, not to get rich like so many politicians, but to actually do good for the American people. He already has all the money he needs so he is not beholden to special interests and fundraisers. He tells the truth because he is not scared of the backlash. He has been targeted by the RNC in 2010, but so far, they are having trouble finding a candidate to run against him.

        factcheck:

in the video he said ppl "targeted" acorn b/c of the high number of democrats listed.

no, acorn was "targeted" b/c of voter registration fraud. (Notice I didn't say voter fraud.)

he further, in another msnbc video said fox was the real enemy of america.

so by all means tell me how this kind of guy is some kind of "hero" when he extols the virtues of due process that the constitution extols, and then completely craps all over the first amendment?

ok, i was wrong, it IS obvious that you can't connect the dots and need someone to hold your hand for you and explain it, my bad.

Grayson, to his credit, nailed the (R) on the unconstitutionality of the bill that was being discussed, and went so far as to mention Madison and the Federalist papers.

He THEN goes out and agrees with Obama that not only is fox NOT a real news organization, but that they in fact are a "real enemy of america."

Putting political bs aside here, Grayson KNOWS about the constitution, (obviously) yet finds nothing wrong with trying to help Obama censor, malign fox's credibility, completely ignoring the very first amendment, freedom of speech.

(and please don't start that old tirade about "fire" bs)

the bottom line here is Grayson knows better, and chooses to go the crony route, when it's obvious that he not only knows better, but is more educated about the constitution than most, (or knows how to do homework better) and yet chooses to argue one part of the constituition, and yet completely care less about the other.

there, feel better? would you like a nap now? maybe some cookies?

Boy jeffypoo. you are just like that double dipwad moron from georgia, you don't understand the Constitution either.

          The 1st Amendment, quote

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Don't see diddly squat about the president or the Supreme Court for that matter.

And, neither Congressman Grayson NOR Pres. Obama are in anyway restricting faux noise agitprop from spewing it's treasonous lies, they simply called them treasonous liars, which may be a matter for a civil case, though truth is an absolute defense against the torts of slander and libel.

Hilarious. A Democrat quoting the Constituition. Even funnier, his attempt to "save" Acorn, a major Democratic organization, an organization accepting money and destroying the Constitution, by quoting the Constitution. The kicker, the defense of a criminal organization in bed with, and funding the, Democratic Party and his attempt to play it as a non-partisan action.

Halliburton Subsidiary Knowingly Exposed Troops to Toxic Dust in Iraq

            source: CBS News
            picked up: Raw Story

by David Edwards and Muriel Kane

A CBS News investigation has obtained evidence that a subsidiary of Halliburton, the giant energy company formerly headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, knowingly exposed United States soldiers to toxic materials in Iraq.

CBS interviewed Commander James Gentry of the Indiana National Guard, who is dying of a rare form of lung cancer that he believes is the result of "months of inhaling hexavalent chromium" after his battalion was assigned in April 2003 to protect contractors from Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) working in Iraq at a local water plant. Other members of his unit are also suffering from cancers or rashes associated with the toxic chemical, which was all over the plant.

"We didn't question what we were doing," a grief-stricken Gentry told CBS. "We just knew we had to provide a security service for the KBR. … We would never have been there if we would have known."

CBS has obtained documents which indicate that KBR knew about the danger months before the soldiers were informed. KBR employee depositions show there were "concerns about the toxins in one part of the plant as early as May of 2003," while later minutes detail symptoms of exposure, including bloody noses and rashes.

It wasn't until the end of August that the Indiana National Guardsmen were informed that the plant was contaminated, and some say they have only just learned about it this year.

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh told CBS, "I think the burden of proof at this point is on the company to come forward and very forthrightly explain what happened, why we should trust them, and why the health and well-being of our soldiers should continue to be in their hands."

KBR has issued a statement saying, "We deny the assertion that KBR harmed troops and was responsible for an unsafe condition."

KBR, which was spun off by Halliburton in 2007 as a separate corporation, has previously been accused of providing contaminated water to troops in Iraq, taking kickbacks, and sending workers to Iraq against their will.

If you're talking about the economic collapse, there wasn't a damned thing he could have done about it. What he did do though (signing TARP into law) was dead wrong.

Yeah, that sure furthers a debate.

And your "When all else fails, bring up Bush. You lefties are so predictable" is somehow more productive? The pot calling the kettle black doesn't change the fact that the pot is still black.

If you're talking about the economic collapse, there wasn't a damned thing he could have done about it.

If the president isn't held responsible for not preventing an economic collapse, how can we hold another president responsible for failing to fix it?

What he did do though (signing TARP into law) was dead wrong.

            Won't argue that.

Now. It's been nine months. When are you going to stop blaming stuff on Bush and hold Obama accountable for his own @!$%#ups?

Again, why should Obama be held responsible for not fixing the economy after less than a year when Bush isn't being held responsible for not averting the crisis on his watch? It's tantamount to a security guard complaining that the cops couldn't stop a robbery when the security guard was asleep through most of it.

If the president isn't held responsible for not preventing an economic collapse, how can we hold another president responsible for failing to fix it?

I already hold President Obama responsible for several epic miscues as documented in that link, but will not blame him one iota for not "fixing" the economy. It's simply not within his power or that of Congress to do so, although I'm not sure if he's aware of that yet.

I expect to be in the minority though. Most Americans have swallowed the notion that the stimulus is potent and can do what it's advertised to do. That miscue will come back to bite the president on his butt. If he'd listened to little ole me instead of Ben Bernanke, he could have sidestepped the whole mess and we'd not be going needlessly close to one trillion dollars deeper into debt.

That's one of the three best moments in congress since i've been active in politics.

              The others are:

              1. Senator Byrd schooling Republicans on the floor of the senate after the neo-cons lined up one after another spouting about how Bush's Judge Nominations constitutionally deserved an up or down vote. Byrd steps up with a book and opens it... "I've been on the floor of this congress for a while, and i'm quite familiar with the constitution.. (holds up the book), and can a single republican in this room show me where it says anything about anyone deserving an up or down vote?" (paraphrased from memory).

              2. The english gentleman during the Downing Street Memo hearings.. he absolutely schooled the Republicans questioning him.

Mr. Grayson's is right up there.

So many Republicans scream about the Constitution.. and I doubt most of them even know what the damn thing says!

Specifically, as to point 1 and Sen. Byrd, quote, from the Constitution,

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

Seems the Senate has a lot of say in appointments by the president.

and, as to point 2, that was MP George Galloway, who gave one normie 'the teeth' coleman, the late senator from Minnesota, now replaced by Senator Al Franken, the asswhooping he deserved.

To quote one of the many things he had to say to normie, "Now I know that standards have slipped over the last few years in Washington, but for a lawyer, you are remarkably cavalier with any idea of justice..."

General consensus, even by our idiot news media, MP Galloway made chairman normie and his little band of repub hyenas look like a bunch of low grade morons.

                No, no, no, NO!
While Grayson is effective doing what he does, (not afraid to have a tussle with those on the other side of the aisle), to give him such a powerful position as Speaker would limit his ability to play to his strengths.

Now, Whip might be a good place for him.

He's a great tactician but needs a strong hand to guide him strategically so that he doesn't end up painting himself into a corner and becoming useless and ineffectual.

He'll eventually tire of this and leave congress of his own accord......AS IT SHOULD BE.
I'd give him, oh, say, 5 terms tops.

He'll have to moderate his style somewhat if he plans on moving to the Senate where this sort of stuff is frowned upon by both parties.

Mr. Grayson is in full control of himself and things around him. The

[The] Congressman should stick to his standards and trust his instincts. He is a leader he needs to set the tone not follow stranger's advice.

He's an attack dog, (not intended as an insult), as such he must be free-range at this point of things. To tie him down with internal "offices" would limit his ability to do what he does best: strip the Republican gilding from their naked ignorance of the constitution and their policies which would further the status quo, (which, after all, is what conservatism is all about, supposedly).

I might concede the point of his "needing" a strong hand to guide him since whenever this is done the person becomes another DC-drone, politics as usual.

Whether he is a leader though remains to be seen. "Taking the point" is admirable in a leader but if he's caught in no-man's land without a retinue of followers he'll be cut down in short order.

It was just too funny.. did you notice Paul Broun had the answers on a piece of paper, and still couldn't read them fluently. His fellow Republicans were trying to step in and save the day, and Grayson just kept standing on his throat and letting him squirm.

Had I the same advantage as Grayson did, I'd have pushed it just as hard. He did quite a job on Broun there.

                Alan Grayson "No-Lubed" that guy!

The republicans really stepped in it with the whole ACORN drama. By singling out ACORN, and trying to score political points they have now opened up the Halliburton's and KBR's to the same type of scrutiny. And the bill is unconstitutional!

But deep down the Reps knew that it wouldn't pass muster. It's all a political ploy to rile up the right against Fascist Socialist, Obama-loving, poor urban-people registering, Elitists who want to kill Grandma and teach their children science. Just another stone being thrown in the Neo-con culture war.

Grayson's top contributors. Unions, IDT (he was their first president) and, for some reason, individuals from the University of Wisconsin are his biggest career contributors.

He's a lawyer, economist, expert in government contracts, and Iraq war spending whistle-blower.

One really smart, successful guy, even though his kids have seemingly "crazy" names.
